Hair today...gone tomorrow

Well its happening...my luscious thicke hair is thinning. My hair used to be 'well fed' and my 'starvation mode' after surgery has caught up with me. I don't feel like I need to take biotine or anything else for it. My labs are good(except high b12, which I assume is from large amount of protien consumed) I was just wondering when my new hair will grow back? I am no where near being a vain person but I will be getting married at some point and I want nice wedding hair.
Also anyone have any problems with break outs after surgery..it's like I am 14 again!
Thanks everyone for your support!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telogen_effluvium I'm 4.5 months post-op and haven't noticed hair loss yet, but I also shaved my head at the 6 week mark, so I'm not sure I would notice hair loss!
My face totally broke out in the first month, but then it cleared up and I haven't had issues since. Thank goodness!

Hi there,
I'm 4 months post op and my hair is falling out by the handfuls, daily. I've been taking high doses of biotin for 3 months and my protein hovers around 100 grams a day and I just started using Nioxin. I didn't have much hair to begin with because of PCOS, high testosterone, and male pattern baldness. I I have to admit the hair loss is disturbing. You are saying your hair loss lasted for 6 months? Oh my! I may not have any hair left in 6 months! Getting a pixie cut on Thursday but at least I know it will go back to normal. Thanks!
Sorry... no... not six months. Six weeks. Forgot that word and I see now how it would be read as months. Apologies on that. :-)
I cut my hair shorter in "prep" for the loss I knew was coming. Biotin won't stop the fallout since it's a reaction to the surgery, but it did help my hair grow back in faster, stronger when it came back. I never felt like my hair looked thin.
I only a month out so no hair loss yet. Mine is thick too and I'm hoping maybe that hides it some. And I am totally breaking out right now....ah, hormones!

The hair loss generally occurs at 3-4 months post surgery, and can last for several months. All the protein, biotin and magic wands in the world won't keep it away if it's going to happen to you. I started taking biotin to help strengthen the regrowth, but it won't do anything to prevent shedding.
Unless you're smart like Gwen and shave your head, you notice immediately when it starts (damn you, Gwen )
