I had VSG March 2012 and have gained back half of what I lost. I now have severe GERD which I didn't have prior to surgery. Surgeon said only way to fix is to have gastric bypass.

Anyone dealt with this?

Just going to throw this out there - take it or leave it....

I had reflux/GERD prior to VSG. I was able to control it, but I still had it. Was warned that VSG might make it worse. What I found was that my reflux lessened and lessened as I lost weight. My surgeon told me that the extra weight can cause GERD and once it's gone the symptoms go away. That's what has happened in my case. (I do take a PPI, but not for GERD or reflux).

Maybe if you take off the weight you gained your GERD will resolve itself without another surgery. I know that's harder to do than to say, but it might be a good option, should you want to avoid the RNY surgery.
