One Year Out and Weight loss stopped

Hey everyone, I'm one year out, and suddenly my weight loss has stopped.  I was losing steadily 6 lbs a month at 1400 cal/day, 100-120g of protein a day.  I'm now bouncing between 140-145.  5ft 4. Maybe I'm done losing?  Malabsorption?  I would like to get a bit lower - but shouldn't be greedy I guess.  Can everyone share their transition to maintenance stories?  How do you eke out a little more weight loss when things slow down?

If you are maintaining on 1400 calories you will need to cut back on your calories to lose more. Many people maintain on 1400. I kept my calories low until I reached my goal weight.

You need 10 calories a day to maintain one pound of weight.  At 140 pounds you need 1400 to maintain.  If you want to lose more weight then cut down to 900 a day.  That will take off one pound a week.  It will take about six months to lose those last 20 pounds if you stay at 900.  To lose a half pound a week, go to 1150 per day and give yourself another year.

You don't need me to share my transition to maintenance story. It looks like you just shared yours. As others said, if you've been at the same weight on that number of calories for long enough, you are  in maintenance.

Only you can decide where you'll be happy. If you are happy where you are, that's fantastic. You should be happy. If you really want to go much lower, you'll have to decide if the effort is worth it.

Thanks for the feedback.  I'm just trying to wrap my brain around why I was losing regularly at 1400 and then suddenly stopped.  But the 1400 to maintain 140 makes sense to me - the body's wisdom, I suppose.  Yeah, I guess at this point I need to decide if I'm happy here or if I want to do the work for a lower weight...

Malabsorption is starting to go away. That's why.

You don't say how long you've been at 140. If it's been a month or so, it could just be a stall. If it's been a few months, it's maintenance.

I am 16 months out, and at the one year mark it was amazing...not in a good way... how the weight loss came screeching to a slow crawl... I won't say stop because it is 2-3lbs a month... but not like before. Just keep plugging away...

Me, too, exactly.  Started out at 240 and now at almost a year out I'm 140.  I am 5'4" also.  I think I'm done.  I set my goal at 130 but I'm now thinking that is unreasonable.  I was 120 in high school but much more active than I am now at 56 with chronic pain.
