VSG 3/13 & stomach is so sickly!
I am officially against weight loss surgery now! My surgery was 3/13 and for the past 2 weeks I had been having really bad stomach issues. My stomach is so sickly with stomach acid, I feel nausea all the time and I'm having acid reflux. I've been to the ER on 2 occasions because I am having such a hard time!! I was diagnosed with gastritis. This feels like something far worse! This last time I went I was admitted and was given an upper GI study, which showed stomach acid and gurd. Has anyone else experienced such painful issues since surgery??? I am so sickly I don't know what to do!!! And the medication doesn't seem to help. Any advice??
That is what we are put on right from the day of surgery. I took the omeprazole 2X a day for one year and Carfate (sp) for ten days to coat the stomach and staple line. So sorry to hear you had to go thru this. I know how bad it can be because the band caused this problem for me. I was scared I would have problems with the sleeve but due to the center being proactive I was able to avoid it.
I hope you get feeling better and all works out well for you.
I'm sorry you're against WLS, but I hope you figure out a way to make it work for you regardless!
You might want to look into a different PPI. I know some people here have had to switch to Protonix after others haven't worked. It's worth asking about. I'm sure that your healthcare team will be able to sort this out with/for you!
