what's the deal with the *****?

I know occasionally someone bleeps out a bad word, but a lot of people use *** in weird places. Is it taboo to mention weigh****chers or something? Then there are other bleeps that don't make sense and sometimes makes it hard to read. Am I the only one wondering this?

The software will combine the letters in adjacent words and if it spells a banned word out come the *****. So, if the previous word before until ends with c, you might get *****. Sometimes it is challenging to figure out what word the software is censoring. The elimination of spaces is because some software will let a word get by if you simply put s p a c e s between the letters.

I tried some of examples and it did not censor them. Then I remembered I have my profile set to adult content. So, I will try them again. ****tail and ****il.

I just changed my setting to no adult content and it starred the words.

So while most members are not posting profanity, the software thinks otherwise.

I believe it is a setting. If you go and change it to allow "adult content" it will show everything.

Weigh****chers has "****" in the middle. As does the temperature of water that is not cold.

This cracks me up every time I see it censored.

If you are seeing that then YOUR message board settings under "Allow Adult Content" is set to NO and the software reads the most interesting things as "adult"

It is like "Wheel Of Fortune" without the wheel trying to guess which word or combination of words it thinks is profanity LOL!
