Ahhhhhhhh!!!!
I go to my doctor tomorrow for a routine physical, my first in years, I'm going to talk to her about VSG. I'm excited and nervous all at the the same time. I'm hoping she gives me the referral and we can start the whole process! I'm hopeful but I don't want to get to excited just to be disappointed if it doesn't happen right away. I'm trying very hard to stay positive though.
Good luck. My PCP was very open to chatting about it and agreed to give me a referral right away. I did take the the sample letter the center suggested and also drafted my own, personal letter that I thought she could use. She didn't automatically sign anything, but she asked to keep the two letters to help her while she drafts her note. This Monday will have been two weeks since I saw her and asked for the referral. On Friday the nurse told me it should be ready if I want to pick it up on Monday (but she will call and confirm). Although the process didn't move quite as quickly as I had hoped, I still have all the pre-approval stuff to do - currently in the supervised WL program, psych eval is in 2 weeks, etc. I won't get to submit to insurance until first week in January, but I'm trying to get everything gathered as quickly as possible.
Good luck to you and hope your visit goes as well as mine did!

I did the same thing in June for my physical. I wanted my doctor to know I was serious about WLS so I typed up the different diet plans/ programs I had been on in the last 30 years. I also had my weight down on paper what it was in different years. Of course, I could not remember the exact but it did show my doctor I was serious. His reply was, "Well, it looks like you have really tried!" Just a thought that might help you. Good luck!
you can insist that they give you a referral ,there required to for any medical procedure that is a normal treatment for any ailment
as long as your bmi is over 35 you should get the referral
my pcp did not what to give it to me but I insisted and then I changed doctors after getting the referral to a more pro wls doctor
I hope your doc is supportive!!
