Heparin Shots

I had my 2nd appt. yesterday with the Nurse Practioner, Exercise Physiologist, Nutrionist and then the Surgeon.  All tests are done.  Now just waiting for a date.

My question is ~  For all of my fellow Sleevers, did you have to give yourself Heparin shots.  Dr. said I will need to do this 3x a day for 14 days right after surgery.  I DON'T LIKE NEEDLES...and the thought of having to give myself shots has me undone.  There is no one else to do it.  How did you get through it?

Each doctor is different. I had my surgery on 10/10 and was given Heparin the day of surgery and 2 days after since I left the hospital on the 3rd day. They did do a doopler test on me before I left the hospital. Good luck with your surgery.

I had to do 2 shots a day for 3 weeks. It's easy and pretty painless. The anticipation is worse than the shot.

I was given Heparin in the hospital for 3 day after my VSG. I have had another surgery where I had to give myself Heparin for weeks. I was worried, I hate needles, but it was easy. Very small needle and easy to give yourself. Nothing to worry about.

I had my sleeve done on 10/10 and I have to give myself one shot a day for ten days. Mine is Lovenox but I believe it's pretty much the same thing. It really isn't that bad. I agree with another poster who said it is more the anticipation. You'll be fine, just think of the "after".
