Oct 20 Exercise Report - VSGers, what are you doing this week?

I did pretty well last week.  I walked 17 miles, worked out on the elliptical 4 times and weights 3 times.  I am 20 miles from my 70 mile goal of walking 2.25 miles per day.

This week is going to be tough to get everything in.  I am leaving for Arkansas to visit a friend Thursday morning and will not get bac****il Monday night.  Walking should not be a problem but it will be hard to get the weight workouts in.  I will have to see if the Y has a facility in NW Arkansas.

Hey :)  I'm still not feeling 100%, but am going to try to get back to a somewhat normal workout week.  I'll try to listen to my body if it tells me to put the breaks on again.  This is the rough plan:

M - total conditioning & abs

T - run 4-6 miles / or muscle stability

W - Chisel & abs

T - run 4-6 miles & maybe yoga

F - muscle step or light cardio & hockey game

S - 90 min yoga

S - 2-3 mile run & 60 min yoga & hockey game

Awesome job with the walking.  If you do get stuck without a place to get weight workouts in, you could try body-weight exercises.  Air squats, pushups, lunges, calf raises can all be done wherever you are, and can be modified.  For example, you can mimic a pushup by leaning against a wall at an angle with your arms straight out, and adjust the difficulty by moving your feet farther out or closer in.  Air squats can be modified by using a bed or chair to sit on, then standing without pushing with your hands.  Lunges are pretty much as-is, or you could try "sitting" with your back straight against a wall and lowering your legs to a 90 degree angle (aka a sitting position) and hold it as long as possible.  Calf raises can be done on a step or on the ground.

This is "recover from running my first 5k" week.  Although, I really don't feel like I have much recovery to do.  I feel pretty fantastic.  But I'm going to skip running for the rest of this week and pick back up again with training on the 28th.

Monday - yoga
Tuesday - walking and yoga
Wednesday - zumba
Thursday through Sunday - at my parents' house so probably more walking and yoga.
