Kay, I've lost enough weight now...
Now how do I stop myself? Everyone's telling me I look frail and sickly
I swear I never thought I would have this problem. I think I'm still kinda in shock. Because I struggled with my weight for so long on my own, I seriously never expected really to reach my goal weight. I was prepared to just be happy to lose 60% of my excess weight. God is great and Dr. Yatco is the best surgeon in NY!
Good luck, but I don't think you will find anyone on here who knows anything about gaining weight.

The advice I see that makes the most sense is to start by adding 100 calories a day to your diet for a week. If you still lose weight, add another 100 calories a day the following week. Etc. Until you reach a point where you're maintaining your weight.

I actually lost too much weight as well. Not by BMI but by appearance. I looked gaunt and I'll and ten years older than my real age. I deliberately allowed myself to gain around 10lbx and then over the years a few more crept back on.
I just added a bit in. Butter on my veggies, ate the sauce with meat instead of scraping it off, allowed myself to eat more desserts.
Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
I say add calories slowly, but it is a slippery slope. Many people do not know how to stop once they start and end up with a huge regain. People tell us we look sickly for many reasons. They are not used to seeing us thin, or perhaps they are jealous.
If your ticker is correct, 170 does not sound "too thin".

I think the weight we lose in our faces makes people think we look "frail" and "sickly". I've heard it said that once our weight stabilizes, the face fills in, but I don't know if it's that, or if it's just that people (ourselves included) get used to seeing us thinner. In any case, don't let others dictate your progress. If YOU are happy where you are now, you can take steps as outlined above. I will caution you, though, as OPs have said, be careful about adding some kinds of calories, especially sugar and refined grains. Also, most people experience a small amount of "bounceback" regain around Year 2 or 3. If you want to create a little wiggle room to allow for that while staying within goal range, you might want to continue to lose just a tad more.

when you add yourr extra calories,be careful what you are adding. Add more meat and maybe a starchy veg and see how you do.mdont add junk! Ack!
