I need some words of wisdom... I'm 2 months post op and it's happened... My very first stall. I have not lost an ounce in 5 days. Is there ANYTHING I can do to help my body break through!?!?

You're lucky that this is your first stall.  However, I do not consider 5 days to be a stall at all.  You should measure your weight loss on a weekly or monthly basis.  Not daily.  Just stick to your plan and the weight will come off.  Usually when I come off of a stall I lose a big chuck of weight really quick.  So you'll have that to look forward to :)

I'm sure you've seen this advice time and time again on other posts here - stick to your plan, make sure you're meeting your liquid and protein goals, and you'll get there.  There isn't a magic way to break a stall just like there isn't a magic way to lose weight.  Stalls will happen often during this process and when you least want them or expect them.  Hold strong and you'll reach your goals!

Stalls are inevitable on this journey.

I find that when I'm in a stall (of 2-3 weeks sometimes now), I measure myself and take photos to compare with previous data and pics. That shows the true picture. The numbers on the scale do not always tell the whole story.

Track your food. Get your vitamins in. Make sure you are getting your water. And follow your plan. The rest will take care of itself if you are true to your surgeon's post-op diet instructions.

I am cutting-and-pasting the exact same thing I wrote to the last person who complained about a "stall" after 5 days, which was exactly 2 days ago:

Maybe if you stop calling them stalls it'll make you feel better.  Five days without weight loss on the scale - not a stall.  Come back and talk to us about it when it's been 5 weeks ;-)

Your body will go through periods where it hangs onto water while still losing fat.  Fat loss is what you want and your bathroom scale is the worst indicator of fat loss.  Take your measurements when the scale stops moving and I bet you'll see a change in that.  That means you are losing fat but retaining water.

A half gallon of water weighs 4 lbs.  When people miraculously lose 3-5 lbs. overnight it's because their body finally released the excess water.  They were losing fat the entire time they were crying in their protein shake about being "stalled".

WHen you start peeing twice as much as normal, you will know the stall is about to break.

Put the scale away for a few weeks & concentrate on staying on plan. 5 days is nothing, you will drive yourself crazy by using the scale only to measure your weight loss. Stalls will happen you can't prevent them best to get used to them.

Use this time to re evaluate your habits, have you stuck to your drs plan? If so eventually the pounds will drop, you might be losing inches, or your body might need a break from losing & needs to get used to what you are now b4 dropping again.

Chill, breathe, Chill out again. Repeat often.

No one surgery is better than the other, what works for one may not work for another. T-Rebel
