Multivitamin question - need some guidance

The multivitamin is the part I'm having the most difficulties with. I have Opurity. I don't take them because they taste disgusting and I get very nauseous when I take them. So I avoid them. My problem is that all the OTC brands like Centrum or Flinstones Complete are FULL of aspartame and some even have hydrogenated oils (read: trans fats!). So I am at a real loss as to what to do because I know I need the multi, but can't stomach the only one that is aspartame and trans fat free. I have done a lot of research online, gone to GNC (which had a powdered one you put in water, but had 120 cals and only 25% rec. dv - would eat up all my calories for the day just to get in the vits), scouted my local shops but cannot get away from those two ingredients.

Any suggestions??   Yes, I know I need a multi and should be taking one everyday. I don't need chastising; simple advice on what vitamin may be a good option that doesn't have those pesky ingredients.  I am not allowed to have swallow or gummies for at least 2 more months. I don't want to wait that long to get in the proper vits.

Thanks

~Angela

Check out the vits from bariatric advantage. I get my calcium from there and they taste really good. I get my multi from GNC. They are soft fruity chews kind of like starburst only softer. I don't have the package in front of me to check for those ingredients but it's worth looking into. Personally, I was never told to avoid those ingredients from vitamins so my NUT told me to take the flintstones chewable. I bought the GNC bc the Flintstones ones taste gross.

Thank you. I was not told to avoid those ingredients either. I just don't want to consume them and I have not for many years. I will check with my NUT to see if the soft chews are ok. I would think so because she advised that it was ok to take the calcium soft chews. Hmmmm, let me look into that. I am just afraid she will be incredibly upset because I haven't taken a multi regularly.

Yeah I wouldn't wait on that. Getting your vits in is super important this soon after surgery. I bet your NUT will have suggestions as you're probably not the first one to have this concern.

If you get the soft chewable from gmc you will also need to take an iron pill which was no problem for me as I took them pre op also

I used to take Costco kids chewable they tasted great and my nut said they where great to take but of coarse like all great things at Costco the stopped carrying them

I get my vitamins from Bariatric Advantage as well. They will send you samples of various flavors if you call and ask. I tried the Celebrate ones and didn't care for the taste but I know other people really like those instead.

Have you tried crushing a high quality regular vitamin?  That might be a workable option.  Also, have you tried taking your vites at the end of a meal when your stomach is full?  That helps me with the nausea and I just suffered through the taste.  (Although you could cru**** up in yogurt which is what some people here have had luck with!)

I will try them at the end of a meal to see if that helps. Since it is only one a day and complete, I would like to stick with what I have (plus I spent over $60 on them!). Hopefully I can make it work. If not, a call to my NUT will have to happen.

Thank you Gwen!

I hear you, totally.  I'm suffering through the last of my Bariatric Advantage chews right now just because I don't want to waste the money.  I get totally nauseated unless I take them at the end of a meal when my stomach is full.  Which is pretty inconvenient!

I get a powdered one from Costco called eco drink. My dietician said it was ok. They use stevia. I do think there is some sucralose in it though.
