Hair is falling out. Can I still color it?

I am about 2-1/2 months out and my hair is falling out, which is what I expected.  I really need to color it, but don't know if it will make the fallout worse, or if the damage has already been done at the root and coloring won't matter either way.  Should I wait? Thanks!

If you color it get it professionally done. Don't use a box. I get my hair cut and colored regularly at a salon. The hair loss is at the root so it shouldn't make it any worse.

I'd ask your hair stylist.  I bleached my hair 6 months out, which is a super harsh process, and it was fine.

I need a cut too, so I guess I will make an appointment.  Thank you!

My sister is a hair dresser and told my to never use the home kits.  They dry your hair.  You can go to a beauty supply store and get professional dye. Just follow the directions.  Also, I am sure your doctor has told you this but your hair is probably falling out from insufficient amount of protein.  Mine recently seemed to thin a little so I went back to drinking the shakes again.

Your hair thins starting usually around 3-5 months post op due to Telogen Effluvium.  Even if your protein is perfect every day and you get in 100oz of water a day you could still lose hair.  Just an FYI as my hair is thinning like crazy and I am always on point with my protein.

Thanks for telling me that I was only warned about the protein deficiency I was not told to expect it to happen anyway.
