D: chili

i think if I drink enough water I can avoid a snack. I did well yesterday.

W & V: on track

E: I was going to get up and ride my bike this morning, but remembered that I had to make a snack for my little one to take to school for the class, so I didn't have time. Going to at least do some ab/glute this evening before bed.

Your menu looks good every day. Do you have a hard time sticking to it?

When I'm maintaining, I add a 4th meal every day, and I do pretty well sticking to the plan. I have a little wiggle room for cheats and the 4th meal is enough to offset any hunger.

I do find I need to make interesting foods to help me resist the pizza and lasagna and chocolate desserts. So I can tell myself, "No you can't have that chocolate brownie, but you can have that buffalo chicken for lunch, or that spicy chicken in peanut sauce or that greek chicken with kalamata olives, or that enchilada casserole." And that is really helpful for me. If I felt deprived, its much harder.

When I'm trying to lose weight, like now, I find it hard. I get hungry. I can eat a veggie snack, but its hard to be hungry-- evidenced by the fact that I've been trying to lose my vacation-6-pound gain for 6 weeks already. I'm getting there, but it slow going.

I tell myself "Hunger is not an emergency!" and I do my best.

Maintenance is not easy!

Carol

It is very hard. I try to tell myself that I'm not actually hungry. And I think that is true. I'm not hungry, I'm thirsty. Or I just want to eat. It is a hard adjustment to make. I've found I do better if I just take one day at a time. I'm not worried about tomorrow, but for today I can absolutely resist the English muffin I the kitchen at school. Good luck to you!

Cappy - maintenance is hard. It's amazing that once you get used to eating more (which still isn't alot) it's tough to cut back. Good luck, you'll get back to your happy weight

Thanks, MMSmom,

Thanks for the support. It is tough to cut back. When I was in my pace in the weight loss process, it was just second nature to be on plan and the hunger was the norm. Now that I'm eating more, my body and mind are resisting being hungry again.

I'm actually at a good weight, and I can make the case for just saying "its ok to weight 165." If I gain 5 pounds, that's really ok, but if I gain 5 pounds a year, that's a problem. And if I cannot maintain now, what makes me think that next year I'll be able to do better!. So I am going to lose this 6 pounds with the same determination as when I was obese. I've got to do it to prove I can.

I really am afraid of regaining. I don't ever want to be fat again.

best wishes,

Carol
