I am getting ready to have my sleeve surgery oct 13!!!  I am getting very nervous/scared/anxious!!!  All the things I've read have been amazing and helped a lot (even the few horror stories).  I'm starting at 362lbs my goal is 199lbs.  I'm afraid of the hair loss, any pointers on that?

There's pretty much nothing you can do about the hair loss. It'll happen or it won't. Best to save your money instead of wasting it on products that are unproven. (People who claim products help have no way to prove that it was the product, and not time, that stopped the hair loss.)

but... better to lose some hair and a whole lot of weight than to have a full head of hair and all the comorbidities of obesity!

It's not written in stone that you'll lose much hair. Even if you do, it grows back. And it's better to lose a little hair and live a long and full life than to have nice hair and have a short and painful one.

I'm one of the "lucky" ones with thinning hair.....but my body is thinning faster and although my crowning glory isn't so glorious right now, I'm okay with it (sort of) because I know that eventually my hair will come back and I'm going to try my hardest for the pounds to NOT come back.

as to being scared and nervous.....we all were....the day before my surgery I talked myself out of cancelling......fortunately I didn't cancel and now, a little over 3 months, I feel terrific and am down 40 pounds.......AND have a huge pile of clothing to take to the consignment shop.

best of everything on your journey....keep your thoughts on the pounds lost, not the hair - it'll all work out...better to be healthy

Good friends are like stars.
You don't always see them but you always know they're there.

excuse me, but you can't say" we were all scared " before our surgeries, I was not scared. I couldn't wait to get on the table.

What about...

"We were all* scared."

      (*for smaller values of all)

no "we were

all" can't be used at all unless the OP has spoken to every person who ever had weight loss surgery and has made sure that every one of them was scared beforeShe can't make that determination, for one reason because I was NOT scared and for another reason, because she Doesn't know every person who has ever had WLS.

I'm sorry my humor missed the mark here.

I was saying "smaller values of all" would be less than all.  I understand how absolutes work.

It was a joke.

Anita didn't mean any harm by her comment. She was trying to comfortingly say that it's common to be scared before surgery. I work in surgery and I can confirm that they give patients versed pre-op because most people are nervous. That's all she was trying to say. :)
