Silly question about protein drinks & mixing them in what?

So, I have heard numerous things about this. Is it okay to mix premier protein shake in iced coffee (obviously decaf!)? Some don't dare to, and others are like, YEAH! Uh, what??

Yup, totally fine. Best to mix them with things that are also calorie-free, of course, but go wild. Mio drops are great (berry flavors plus vanilla shake, yay!), and Syntrax Nectar mixes well with Crystal Light if you need to water down the protein taste.

I add it to hot coffee and iced coffee. I don't need any cream or sugar so I don't add calories that would do me no good!

I mixed my Vanilla Premier Protein with decaf this morning.  First coffee since before surgery.  Very satisfying.

Then again,I'm still on liquid post-op diet and I'm fantasizing about cottage cheese and pureed black beans right now, so my satisfaction meters might be a bit skewed.

I have gotten the responses that 'too cold' and 'too hot' protein shakes lose their 'protein amount'. I laughed at the ones who said it but, had to ask you all on here. I don't think they live on planet Earth

I can't imagine that's anywhere close to true... but one thing I have heard from people is issues with the powder in hot beverages is an issue with clumping. Maybe some people have figure out the best way to mix it to prevent that?

I put slabs of protein on the grill, consumed in flames. It does nothing to hurt the protein.

That's some crappy advice floating around. Mix your protein however you want.

A tip for those that add protein powder to coffee: adding powder to hot coffee results in horrible clumps. The protein is fine. Just clumpy. To make it smooth, add powder to a little room temperature water to make a smooth slurry. Add the slurry to hot coffee, and you'll be clump free.
