Bill, I just wanted to say Congratulations on your surgery! Hope all went well and you are feeling pretty good. I too had an open RNY on 12/7/01 and it took about 2 weeks to feel really back to normal. I didn't have much pain though after the first 4 or 5 days, so hang in there, it will get better. You should just take it easy at first and work your way back to getting your strength back. The best of luck to you!

happy new birthday bill! i too made a 5 hour trip home the day of my discharge. i was ok for the most part but that last hour got to me. i just wanted to be HOME & in my own bed. my advice to u as a new post op is...dont be afraid to rest as soon as u feel tired. its just as important as walking because rest helps us heal. i am 3 weeks out & still take a long afternoon nap. good luck!

*******ANGEL ON DUTY****** CALLING ALL POST-OPS! Hello everyone! I spoke to Bill today and he is sounding a lot better. Today is day 3 for him...he passed his leak test and has had all his wires and tubes removed. He has even had a popsicle and now his tongue is all blue!! LOL Bill will be released tomorrow and has a LONG (5 hr.) drive back home! ughh! Everyone please say a prayer for Bill and his fiance Heidi to have a safe drive home without too much discomfort. **** All you post-ops out there...please give Bill 1 helpful hint to help him get through these next few difficult weeks as a post-op!
