Alas we meet again! I am currently 40 weeks post op! My gosh how time flies when you're having fun! That is the key word... "fun" and I am having soooo much of it! I have lost 110 lbs... 24 lbs from goal. I remember in high school hearing girls say "I need to lose about 20 lbs or so" I was like "20lbs?? That's one butt cheek" LOL And now I am one of those girls. This whole process is amazing. I am HEALTHY... I am HAPPY and I am honestly a better person because of this surgery. More confident, more proud and ironically there's LESS of me! Ive had a few complications since surgery. I had a "stricture" which is when your small intestine closes up and no food can pass (or water for that matter) It really wasnt a big deal- just had to go into the hospital for a little 20 minute outpatient procedure where a tube is put down your throat with a balloon on the end. The balloon is then blown up to enlarge the intestine to normal size. That was done 3 times, but that was LONG ago. Everything is normal now. I am eating everything that I was able to eat before. I recently started a high protein LOW carb diet just to kind of boost my weight loss because I was at a plateau. To everyone considering this surgery- GO FOR IT! Your life awaits you! I do want to remind you though- that life is what you make of it. Life isn't any BETTER because of surgery. You make it better, and that is my wish for everyone considering gastric bypass

Hello Hello! It's Sarah again! I'm 9 months post op and -105lbs! I know it's been a while since I've updated, but I've been very busy lately finally living a normal 22 year old life! I am doing very well! 30 pounds from goal and very very happy. I had a couple of complications after surgery. I got what is called a "stricture"... which is when your small intestine closes up completely! No food could pass, and silly me thought this was normal. Finally after not eating OR drinking for a week, I called my surgeon who said "get the heck in here!" He scheduled me right away to see a gastro specialist who made me all better. VERY simple out patient procedure. They run a tube down your throat with a balloon on the end of it and blow your small intestine back to size. They put you asleep so it was really no big deal! Other than that- the surgery was a snap! I would do it over and over again! I wish everyone the best of luck!! Ya'll are going to do awesome!! Talk to you soon- Sarah

Hi everyone! I just wanted to thank you all for all of your prayers and warm wishes! I am now 17 days post-op! I've lost 27 lbs and I'm doing pretty good. Ate my first meal 3 days ago... didn't sit too well, but still working on it. I'm feeling pretty drained most of the time, but my doctor assures me that my energy will come back! To anyone that is thinking about surgery- please make sure it is right for you. Saying goodbye to food was like saying good bye to my best friend... be pre pared! Good luck and thanks to all.
