I just talked to Christa and she has had her first meal since Monday afternoon @2:30. Christa ate chicken broth, cranberry juice and jello and has tolerated it well, she said she has no nausea. She is drinking her water and will get her IV out today also. Christa has taken a shower and is walking the halls. The anticipated coming home day is tomorrow, 21 June and I am sure she will be online to everyone ASAP. She has said her stomach and surrounding muscles are very sore.

Christa came through her surgery with flying colors. The surgery took 1 1/2 hours, Dr. Gaskins came out and told me she was doing great, she was in excellent health and he expected her to be up in no time. They took Christa to ICU and the care there was probably the best I have ever seen. They moved Christa out of ICU at 1:30 a.m. to her room. She was in ICU about 12 hours. The first day, she only had 2 pain shots. Christa had a Demerol pump she could use, and she did. Christa's second day began with Dr. Gaskins checking her and then putting on her binder, she also was getting her NG tube out of her nose, getting a bath (in bed) and walking for the first time. Christa was able to sit up in a chair for about a half hour and then back to bed she went. She is still on ice chips and is expected to get her first broth/juice today, Thursday 20 June. I talked to Christa at 5:30 this morning and she sounds great. The nurse said she was up and down all night in the potty due to all the IV fluids, but that was a good thing. Christa is walking much faster than I anticipated and I am so thankful for everyones prayers and good wishes. I asked Christa right after surgery, when the pain was the worst if she regretted it, she answered me with a resounding "NO". Please keep Christa in your thoughts and prayers as she continues her journey......Christa's Mom
