Today I am trying to run some errands. I will get ART (a stretching technique to help with injuries) and then go swimming.

Good Morning,

Ate a little something  yesterday that is having a good time with my GI system. I didn't eat anything new or different. Just never know when your body is going rebel. Feeling better now, I'm just laying around on the couch, actually enjoying this cool breeze coming in the windows. I had read we might get a bit of rain. That would be awesome. My plants could use some water. Back to work for me tomorrow, if my body behaves.  I hope you are all having a great day.

Morning Barb and Cali,

today is my last day of class.  It has been good, reminded me of a lot of things I could be doing easier!  Walked yesterday for almost 2 hours in the 97+ degree weather, was I dumb or what!1  I was OK until I stopped and then it was like a hot flash!!  Still need to get Ms V her T-shirt she ordered.

Getting out of class early so I will have plenty of time to shop this afternoon.  Hope you all have a great Hump day!!

Rapid weight loss is stressful for the liver regardless of whether you accomplish the weight loss with RNY, with a different surgery, or with no surgery at all. You probably had the fatty liver before your RNY and just didn't know it. As you noted, it's a silent disease, and extremely common in MO people. The weight loss will help your liver in the long run, it's just stressful in the short run, which is where you still are now.
It sounds like you're seeing the right specialist and that he'll re-check things to make sure you're going in the right direction. Meanwhile, avoid anything that would put additional stress on your liver (alcohol, excessive tylenol, hopefully he gave you some instructions).

Topic: Fatty Liver and also Gallbladder removed
A couple of months ago during some routine blood work my liver enzymes came back high, AST was 44 and ALT was 79. My doctor ordered an ultrasound of my liver and it came back slightly enlarged. I was sent to a liver specialist who told me this is called fatty liver. The specialist said since I have lost weight so fast, almost 105lbs in about 1 year, he thinks my liver is having a hard time processing fat as it is expelled from my body. The liver Dr put me on 800IU of vitamin E daily as a cure for my fatty liver. I also have to be very careful of not eating much fat.

I have been upset because no Dr or other RNY patient ever said anything about possible fatty liver condition after gastric bypass surgery. I have never been told I had a fatty liver before now.

I go back to the liver dr in early September for a check up. Hopefully taking the vitamin E has helped or fixed the fatty liver problem.

Fatty liver does not cause me any discomfort or even any symptoms that I am aware of and the Dr said it is a silent disease.

Also I needed to have my gallbladder out in Feb this year due to infection/severe gallstones and the general surgeon was surprised that my RNY surgeon Dr never checked my gallbladder before my RNY surgery and he was surprised they did not remove it during my gastric bypass.

Does anyone else know anything about Fatty Liver and RNY or have something to share. I would appreciate it.
Thanks, Amy

Life is a journey to be shared. ~Amy~

John,

We're not really a formal support group per se, just a group of folks who have rallyed each month for over 2 years for lunch or outtings like the picnic we had last Sat. and the pool party we'll have in Aug.  All total there are about 45 of us between "losers" and support family, spouses and friends.  It's a great group of folks and for sure lots of friendship and fun.  Come join us!!!

Good Morning Cali Friends,

How are you today?  Hope your Tuesday was a good one.  I put in a 12 hour day yesterday, but did get a lot accomplished.  Today brings a full day of training off site and God willing a chiro appt for my neck which is not cooperating with life at the moment.  I will come home tonight and make cupcakes for my daughter whose birthday is tomorrow.  She and my Grandson will be coming over tomorrow night to celebrate her birthday so I will be making her the dinner she ordered:  BBQ Marinated flank steak, browned potatoes and broccoli.  Easy peasy!

That's about all that's rocking in my world, how about yours?

Have a wonderful day!

Hugs,
Barb
