I am glad that I am not the only one who has questioned what the doctor told me... Thanks for your help.

IMHO, bread, pasta and rice have no business being in your diet until you hit goal weight.  Now that's because I'm one of those that stuck to the 40 grams of carb or less plan.  The amount of protein they want you to eat each day is spot on.  The amount of water they recommend is the bare minimum, I would shoot for 80 oz. at this point.

As for things that are processed, I never ate low fat anything during weight loss.  I had full fat cheese and butter if I wanted it (but there were very few times I would use butter).

At 9 weeks out, a typical day of eating looked like this for me:

B - protein shake, hard boiled egg

S - string cheese

L - 2 oz. fish

S - Isopure Zero Carb protein drink, turkey sausage bites

D - ham/cheese roll-up

Thank you so much Tracy.  What calorie range did they set for you?   I am wondering if they have me at so few that my body thinks it is starving... they have me between 400 and 600 calories.

My surgeon refused to set a calorie level for me.  I had to come on this website to figure some things out.  I saw that most successful people my size were doing around 700-800 per day.  800 per day is what worked for me.

My nutritionist also pushed me to eat more carbs early on.  She wanted me to get in about 100g /day.  I did not follow this.  I do / did work out a lot, so I know I had more than most, but I kept them closer to ~50 while losing.  Now in maintenence I'm closer to 100-150.

I don't think dairy is a prob -- but everyone's bodies are different.  If dairy causes you to not loose then try going without it for a bit.

MEAT is always a good choice :) and so are veggies (non-starchy ones!)
