Ok...so to all the Miralax users...not to give TMI but...so, I had a  bm at 6:00pm so would you take Miralax again tomorrow morning...just keep taking it daily and it should make me more regular?

My gastroenterologist is a big fan of Miralax, so I take it every day. He seems to be of the opinion that constipation in all its various nasty forms is often the root of much evil in the colon over time so it's best to avoid it.  It's hard not to get too graphic, but daily use keeps things on schedule and soft - beats the heck out of poopin' bricks every couple of days. :)  I have a prescription for the generic version, so it's a little cheaper than the OTC version.

Understandably we are all focused on protein, sometimes to the exclusion of fruits and vegetables, often resulting in constipation - not to mention the lack of those important vitamins and minerals.  In the early days after surgery I also used Miralax and it was a life saver but now (11 months post op) I make it a point to include all food groups for a more balanced diet and of course drink a lot of water.  I no longer need Miralax as my body has enough water and fiber to do the trick naturally.  Good luck!

I find that with my smaller food in-take that I don't poop every day like I used to.  Did your doctor tell you to use a laxative if you don't poop ever day?  I didn't use a stool softener until it was several days of not pooping.

To paraphrase Ron White, have you ever pooped so much you broke a stall?

I add a half a capful of Miralax to my Premier Protein shake five days a week, and take two Fiber Gummies a day.  Constipation no more.

I'm 7 weeks out of surgery and have had constipation issues from the very beginning.  My doctor told me to eat 4 ounces of food, 3 times per day that consist of a protein, fruit, and a vegetable for the next year. I'm still constipated.  Yesterday, I drank a natural laxative tea in a chocolate flavor called "Smooth Move" and it worked. I purchased it from Whole Foods.  I don't like that Miralax takes several days to work for me.
