I just started dating and met someone right from my town online.  I've been seeing him almost 3 months.   I told him I used to weigh more and he didn't really seem interested. I am 3 years out and he never commits on how I eat.  I have numerous restrictions due to a medical issue.  He is not a foodie and really doesn't give it much thought.  I have told friends, coworkers and family.  I suppose at some point it will come up.  Honestly, at this point I don't think it is something he would even care to talk about.  I am not hiding it, frankly I think he would be bored to talk about it at length.  Also there is a lot he doesn't know about me yet, and I don't think this would be that important to him.

Honesty is the base of every relationship I have. I want to make sure I'm comfortable sharing! I guess if I'm with the right person that will be there!

I've had about 3-4 dating situations that went a little beyond 1-2 dates since my surgery 4.5 years ago. I only told one of the guys, for 2 reasons:

1. He was worried I might have an eating disorder, and his friends commented on this with him as I eat so little.

2. He was the non-judgemental, understading kind and I knew he was falling for me and cared deeply for me and knowing I had surgery would make no difference, I assumed. I was right.

Last year I dated a guy for quite a few months whom I didn't tell about the surgery. Why?

1. He was very rational and judgemental and I know he would be weirded out by what I did.

2. He was the type to fat shame... or let's say, he'd NEVER date a fat person, he told me that when I told him I used to be fat.

3. I was falling for him and didn't want him to judge me / my strenght.

We broke up and I'm glad I did not tell him.

My desire is to find the right guy who I will feel so comfy with that telling him after dating for a couple of months won't feel weird. As for telling someone right away - no! It's no one's business, it's a medical issue. Do you tell your new date you had appendicitis or so? I bet not ;)

Lol, I like your comment about the appendicitis! I just had varicose veins done, but you could physically see that! I explained that, but it's not like I would bring up my tonsillectomy!

I think I will know when it's the right guy to share with.

Dating is hard enough and the thinking about this! Lol!

I would be honest from the beginning that way he's not trying to get you to over eat and he knows you have limits as to what you can eat and how much.  If I were a guy and I had a new girl who don't eat I'd be concerned But if he knows he wont be concerned.  It's best to be honest.
