I would order it in a 20 and if you have to have it altered to an 18 or 16 then the shop could do it.  Good luck and let us know how you get on Kaydensmomma10!

It took me about 50 pounds to see a change in sizes. If want to know why I needed to order my dress six months ahead. That seems a bit ridiculous. Is it custom made?  I'd ask if you could order it closer to the date. Or I'd bow out of the wedding party.

I would order down 2 sizes and then you have 2 more sizes it can be altered. That is only 4 months out from your surgery. You will be down... how much size wise is very iffy, it is very variable. It is easier to take something in than let it out. By 4 months I had gone from a tight 28 to a 24 in jeans. I had lost 90lbs ... pre(25) and post surgery(65). Good luck, not easy.

I'm with Gwen.  I have dropped 72 pounds overall but only 2 sizes.  Part of the reason for this is that I am naturally apple shaped so my waist has barely shrunk while my legs and arms are much smaller.  Try to take that into account depending on the type of dress.  A flowy or loose skirt will still fit a pear shape's hips even if you get a much smaller size and if you are apple-shaped and it is snug around the middle, don't go too small b/c that area seems to take a lot longer to go in people with that body shape.  The good news is that usually the larger you start, the quicker you lose.  Good luck!

If I were in your situation I would ask to have the dress ordered at the absolute latest date as one of the other writers wrote.  I would also consider wearing another type of dress since you are the maid of honor.  Just as a previous writer said, Maid of Honor dresses are different that the other ladies dresses.  With this being said you can possibly wait to order your dress which will give you an opportunity to lose as much weight as you can before the wedding. Personally, I would not want to lose wait and not show my curves...lol. I wish you the best...Blessings.
