Temptation at work!

I work at a place that offers free snacks.  By snacks I mean chips, cookies, full size candy bars...the list goes on and on.  They keep the snacks in a closet we dubbed, "the closet of shame" or "the closet of a million calories"...LOL!!!

I stay away from the closet...don't go near it.  I don't even walk past it.  If I get an urge to eat something there because I see someone else eating something very tasty.  I will dig into my stash of snacks.  Usually, almonds or apple slices...it fills me up physically at least.  I may still long for a Reeses but I am no longer hungry!!!

If I do give in...hey I'm not a saint, I'm not perfect... I will go for the dark chocolate.  At least it's not as many calories and supposed to be not as bad for you.

Oh, man, that closet has got to be rough! I'd have to make sure I don't walk by it when I'm feeling snackish or stressed.

For some reason those types of sweets don't really call to me.  Now, if someone brings in some pretzels or crackers of some sort, then I struggle.  I just stay away from where it is.  Everyone knows I had surgery, so they don't question why I don't eat this stuff.

That's great! I know that not everyone is a sweets person. Carbs in general, sweet or savory, are my weakness. It wasn't so hard for the first several years after surgery, but now at 10 years out almost, it's more difficult. I'm working at it hard, though!

We always have a ton of food around here.  Whenever there's a potluck, I just go in and smell it all.  Then I just walk away and go eat MY lunch.  Don't know how I do it!

Oh, I don't know how you do it, either! Wow!

I'm not sure how well I would deal with that temptation - it seems you did pretty good.

I made my own Then/Now photo (not a Before/After - they was really no before (every diet I was ever on is a (good or bad) foundation for WLS) and there is no really after(just how healthy am I today).  I keep it in my purse.

Also, every month I put this slinky dress and take a picture - my goal is to wear that dress for years.  I want to look good in that dress and that provides some motivation in weak moments - but all that temptation around could be difficult. If they somehow made it into my house - they would all go down the toilet so I wouldn't eat it.  You can;t do that (well, maybe you can) at work, but when we look at food as nuitrition - you will see that there is no nuitrition in those foods - just toxicity.

I look at it, and tell myself that maybe I can have some later, after I eat lunch or whatever. When I eventually make it back to the kitchen, there is almost never any left. Other people are usually happy to gobble it down. If there is some left, then it's probably not worth eating anyway!

So before WLS I worked at a Hershey plant in CA...All the chocolate you could eat while at the plant!!!  No wonder I got up to about 300 pounds.  I'm retired now...But my biggest issue now is the dark chocolate we store in the freezer...From France...74% coco.  THE BOMB!!  But it doesn't have that much sugar...

I understand that... I'd have a hard time resisting chocolate in my freezer too!

Also, your surgery date is close to mine...can you believe it's been almost 10 years??
