Very upset after being told I dont qualify

I say have another meeting, perhaps with another nurse at the clinic and discuss why you have been refused. She may be a new nurse, but you are entitled to a conversation. I understand you are frustrated (I would be furious) but be prepared and ask a lot of questions...

you are right. She was a new nurse and only though the co-mordidty that counted was diabetes. She was wrong and I do qualify after all :)

I am really sorry to hear you have been declined. They have a cut off bmi here I know. In the states, they do not follow the bmi 40 plus as stringently as we do in Ontario. Our program enforces the guidelines, I know you must be very upset, I can't imagine. I agree perhaps you can have further discussion over your issues along with your slightly lower bmi? 

The reason you went to orientation was simply a beginning stage where you learn more about what wls is and the expectations. Blood work, yup that part of the screening as well. 

If you have decided this is really something you are ready to do, then see if you can sit down with someone to discuss your options.

I can't imagine hearing that news, I am sure it was devastating but my goodness you are so close. I mean on any given day our weight changes. I think its a good time to digest the information, and possibly as to talk with the clinic manager and have a good understanding of qualifying vs. not qualifying. I think it would be worth it. I am sure you were very emotional when you heard the news, I know I would be. Good luck!!

Nurse was wrong and I qualify with bmi between 35-40 and two co-morbidities. They told me they are going to have that new nurse sit through orientation.

Have you been tested for sleep apnea yet?  I believe that qualifies as a co-morbidity, that would allow you to have the surgery with a BMI between 35 and 40.

I am really saddened by some posts which are so negative.

Are we not here for support and to help each other?  

Some posts are very helpful but being mean and "funny" are cruel and unnecessary.
