Pregant!!
First off, Congratulations!!!
I had two successful pregnancies after my RNY. The first one was very unexpected, and occurred about 10 months after my wls. I was very nervous about the baby not getting everything he needed, due to my still being in the "honeymoon phase". He turned out just fine. He was pretty small, only 5 lbs 12 oz, but he was perfectly healthy, and arrived on time. I lost weight through most of the pregnancy, and regained about 8 lbs toward the very end. The second one was 3 years later, and he was my big boy, weighing 8 lbs 6 oz. I had stalled in my weight loss, prior to that pregnancy, but actually lost 25 lbs during it, and 19 lbs the day after I delivered him. I had no complications during either pregnancy or delivery. My babies were both very quick to come into the world, once the pushing phase began lol
I took my prenatals and gave up coffee, but other than that, everything was basically the same as before. Best wishes to you, for a successful and happy pregnancy!
Hi! Midwife (non practising) here ... Unless you are underweight (BMI less than 18) you will not need any extra calories - just keep up with with your lifestyle in terms of good quality food, make sure you take your vitamins religiously and you will probably feel more comfortable having a Fetal/Maternal specialist to monitor your and your baby's progress. Make sure your multivitamin has 100 per cent folic acid!
You life is about to change more than you can ever expect - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
