You are correct...But they "look on" closely while they are being done many times!! Especially surgeons, they want to see if they have missed something they could have caught...

Don't want to be morbid...But I would want my surgeon to look closely at new issues that could arise. Most do...

Sir, you post something on this board nearly every month - so please don't fib to us and say you haven't been active for a while and that you aren't in the loop. If you click on someone's name, you can see their activity. I check this board, but it doesn't mean I'm not living my life.

So, yeah, what Julie said :-)

You know what? I'll bite. For the distraction if for no other reason.

I have no blind stomach. I actually don't have a "true" RnY, but that is the surgery that is closest to what my bariatric surgeon did.

I had severe-recurring non-healing ulcers. Many times the scar tissue from previously healed ones would block/scar my pyloric valve to the point that it was not able to function and I'd repeatedly end up in the hospital on an ENG tube for days each time. Everything about that situation sucked so bad that my gastro-enterologist finally floated the idea of getting rid of the majority of my stomach in the hopes of taking out as much scar tissue as possible and doing anything he could come up with that might keep my pyloric channel clear. (that part ended up being a lost cause).

At the time I also weighed 347 pounds. Basically when I had my last daughter I lost 80 pounds of pregnancy weight, got back into my old clothes and then proceeded to more than double my body weight in less than a year. So there was that. The gastro guy didn't see a connection but I finally asked him if he knew a surgeon who'd do a lab band while they were in there fixing my stomach. Fortunately the surgeon I found was an ethical man and refused the lap bad idea (I thank God for that on the regular).

What they finally did was a near-total gastrectomy. 95% of my stomach was removed and they fashioned a pouch for me out of the remainder. My intestines were made consistent with RnY post ops. I've had no blind stomach and still not very much of any stomach for going on ten years now.

I'm a bit confused on what you're wanting to know, but ask away. If I can help clarify anything I will.

Sounds similar to what I have. I started with a sleeve and DS. Sleeve was way too large (the way they did it in 2002, at least my surgeon did it that way).

Revision removed what was left of my stomach and left a small pouch. Very small since I still have a lot of restriction going on 8 years.

My intestines were kept in the DS configuration except my common channel was lengthened from 100 cc to 200 cc.

While I am glad that I don't have to worry about a blind stomach it is pretty depressing to accept that what I have is all I will ever have. No more revisions for me, not that I would have one on a dare.

But getting full after 2 or 3 bites gets very old quickly. I'm not sure how big my pouch is but I know that I can barely eat 2 oz of dense food.

I'm not sure what the OP was asking for but this is my experience.

WLS 10/28/2002 Revision 7/23/2010

I don't have any answers for you Brian, sorry.

What I do have is a true confusion as to why people respond with rudeness when it is just simpler to scroll by.

"you post once a month..."- who cares? Does this statement he made hurt anyone or effect anyone in any discernible way?

And when people ask questions pointing them to Google is just condescending. People are aware that google exists. If they are posting a question, my assumption is that they are looking to connect with actual people, not websites chosen by an algorithm, who may have knowledge of the topic they're posting about.

I hope you get some of the answers you're looking for, good luck!
