Protein Shake Attack!

Hey everyone,

I'm just about protein-ed out (if I could use "protein" as a verb for a minute:)!  I've been testing new protein shake recipes for a protein shake cooking class I'm doing tonight called "The Making of a Great Protein Shake..."  

The rest of this week, I'll bring you my SIX new protein shake creations/finds, and also give you an outline for building a delicious protein drink yourself.....so you can suit your own tastebuds:)   They have to be such a big part of our lives (for most of us at least), that its worth find things that really work for us. 

One thing to remember is that:  NOT ALL PROTEIN POWDERS ARE CREATED EQUAL. We know that there's "good carbs/bad carbs" and "good fats/bad fats," but protein doesn't necessarily fall into those categories.  It is more about the QUALITY of protein.  You'll hear the term, "complete protein" meaning a food has all 8 - 9 essential amino acids (aka. proteins that our bodies don't make- we must get them in through what we eat).  

More on this later, but for now, let's play a game:  Do you know what the one food that is used as the "perfect protein" comparison for all other foods????   This guy gets an A++++ on his quality of protein.  He has all essential amino acids, and at the perfect levels in respect to one another.  His proteins are set up for perfect absorption, too! 

(Since games are no fun unless there's a prize, I'll send one of my Bariatric cooking/fitness videos w/ mini cookbook to the first person who guesses correctly!  No cheating by accessing Google! )  I often ask silly (but important) nutrition questions in my cooking demos, and hand out prizes for the correct guesser!
