Journey Begins!

Jul 14, 2014

So I had finally attended the long awaited orientation and I have to say that it was really great!  The information was very helpful.  It felt for me like a wake up call to force me to think and understand that life is going to be VERY different after surgery.  Because of this realization I have decided to really start addressing the reasons why weight loss has been so difficult the past many years, and start making changes...in  different ways than in the past.  I figure its better to do it now than have to figure it all out after surgery.  So here they are in no particular order...

1)  Closing out the voices of toxic people!  Man has the nay say'ers and the "you can't do it" people been getting really loud since announcing that I am going to undergo bypass.  I am realizing how detrimental they have been to my attempts at change.  It is because of their lack of confidence in me why I had often internalized their words and never made strong attempts at change in fear of hearing "i told you so" and feeling pure failure.  And, Unfortunately it is the ones who are close to me, and as a result, has the biggest emotional influence on me and my decisions, who are talking in my ear!  So needless to say...i'm getting older and as Sweet Brown said "Ain't nobody got time fo dat!"  I'm not fearing failure, keeping my mouth shut and my eyes on the prize!  2)  Scheduling my meal times -b/c skipping meals is a HUGE no no!  I have set my alarm on my phone to go off 30 min before I am to eat...that way I know to prepare my food and get ready to sit and eat.  3)  Meal Plan!!! I have begun making menus and the grocery list to follow.  And finally 4)  Reducing eating out to 1 day a week...Lordy for a person who doesn't plan and skips meals...quick eats has been my go to.  Pray for me people because this one is going to be a challenge...but so is Bypass so I got to suck it up and do this!

I went to a party yesterday at Chinguacousy park and if any of you are familiar, you would know about he ski hill.  Well there were these two people out there, one super fit lady and the other large lady.  The fit lady was a trainer.  Well seeing them run half way up that hill i was filled with memories of when I used to play rugby, and we had to do the same but on a much smaller hill.  Those days came back with a vengeance!  I have to challenge myself again! So that is my fitness goal...to run...without stopping...up the Chinguacousy ski hill!!

I'm excited for this and ready...two things I haven't felt in a long while.
