I am SO ready for my VSG 03.22.11!

Feb 12, 2011

Hey there!
My name is Lauren, and I am sick and tired of being unhealthily overweight despite my efforts.  After being 80% raw since November 11th as a last-ditch effort at losing weight on my own without surgery and only losing 11 lbs. in 3 months, I have decided that the time has finally come for me to get my VSG.  I have put it off long enough as per the urgings of my family and friends and need to do this for myself.  I need a tool like the sleeve to help quell my appetite.  I plan on keeping my (already) healthy eating habits post-surgery and have no doubt that I will be very successful at losing 65 lbs.!  Right now I weight 201.  I would love to be back to my high school weight!  My diet consists mainly of fruits and vegetables, and I don't count calories, so that's going to be a shift for me.  I am researching the post-op diet now and any aids that might help me to count calories and stay on track.
I also have symptoms of PCOS, which, I fear, are slowing my best weight-loss efforts.  I am certain I have candida, and I am going to kill all this yeast pre-surgery so it's not an issue anymore.
I guess it's just easier for me to focus on taking care of everyone else's needs, and I tend to neglect my own.  No longer will I do this!
I want to get off my blood pressure medication, too.  I am certain I can do this with expedited weight loss.
I'm going to be 40 on May 15, and this surgery is my gift to myself!  I am so excited.  I will be traveling to Louisiana to have surgery done by Dr. Thomas Borland.  My whole family (hubby and two children, ages 6 and 10) are coming along to support me.  I look forward to the knowledge and support that this board provides for so many as I embark on my own personal journey.  :)
