Today I made a call to my insurance to see if Gastric Bypass is covered. It is, but there's prerequisites I need to have in order to qualify. They told me to get a hold of my primary care physician, to get a referral to a bariatric surgeon. 

I went ahead and decided to call a bariatric surgery center that's near my area, and had great reviews. The lady I talked to there said that with my insurance, I need to have 1 of the following comorbidities to qualify- high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, or sleep apnea. As far as I know, I don't have any of those, but I do know I need to have a sleep study done to test for sleep apnea, since doctors recommended it awhile back, and I just never got around to doing it. I have a doctors appointment later in the month, so I will talk to my doctor about having blood pressure, cholesterol tested, and see about setting up a sleep study.
