Second Post: Wow! next stop, 200 pounds lost!
Jul 17, 2014
"You're traveling through the same dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound, but of pounds lost and pants falling off; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of work effort and sweat. The signpost up ahead - your next stop, the weight-loss zone" - Apologies to Rod Serling...
Well I went to the July meeting for Lutheran Hospital's Bariatric Surgery Support Group. Just for laughs, I went on the scale and weighed myself. I am not a slave to the scale - I don't have one at home, and my happiness is not determined by it. I thought that I would be in the 250s. Imagine the look on my face when the scale read back in its LED glory "249.4". Lutheran takes off 3 pounds for clothing, so I am offically 246 pounds! That signpost up ahead - the 250 pound zone - utterly destroyed. and that's nearly one year since surgery.
As with everything I do, I take it slow and steady. I will be training to do 5Ks and 10Ks in New York City building yup to the half-marathon. I usually walk about a mile or 2 during the week, and do an 8-mile walk on Saturday. I should be posting something on my first surgiversary. So, that's what I'm up to right now. Ta-ta for now...
Thanks for looking,
Don
