Got my stomach stretched

Jul 08, 2010

Sooo I am going on almost 8 weeks now and since week 2 I have been throwing up food, Not just some things but everything. I read posts on here and it seemed the norm so I waited and waited and waited just thinking that is was going to get better. Then I went for my 5 week post op appointment and told my surgeon what was going on. He suggested we wait another 2 weeks to give my stomach some more time to heal and that in the meantime I should regress to soft foods. I waited again and waited again. Then on June 30th I attended a "support group" if you would even call it that (more like a glorified q&a with a plastic surgeon, I got no support out of it) anyways I ran into my Dr. again at that and he asked if I was still having problems, I was and he decided to expedite my appointment and get me into have an Endoscopy by a Gastroenterologist. I went in to have the Endoscopy and low and behold we found the problem. The opening from my esophagus to my pouch was about the size of a bullet. A normal opening is bigger than a sandollar. Because of the size of the opening barely any food could pass through so everything I ate just got stuck and came right back out. I had one stretch done. They put a balloon inside me and blew it up to stretch it out to about the size of a quarter. I came home that night and already noticed a huge huge difference! I actually felt normal again. I could eat OMG. I could eat. Even if its just a little bit I could put food in my mouth, chew it, swallow it, and not feel instantly sick. I have to go back in 2 weeks for another stretch, and then possibly again and then I am back in business....

Point of my post.... if you feel like something is wrong it probably is. Don't wait till your 5 week post op appointment, CALL YOUR DOCTOR. even if it is the littlest thing its worth a call.

and even though throwing up and "dumping" is normal... when you are eating good food and are experiencing constant puking that is something different entirely.

Ok well I am going to eat some dinner with my family now because I can! Thanks for all the support.

:)
