Me myself and lies

So this is going to be a long series unless God has other plans. I want to take each aspect or verse that this study talks about and expand on it.

Proverbs 18:21 The message
 ²¹ Words kill, words give life;
   they're either poison or fruit—you choose.

²¹ Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
      And those who love it will eat its

so think about this. Words can give life or take it away. Do we realize the impact that has. Think about how many words we say each day. Not only to others but to ourselves. What life are we poisoning or taking away every time we say something negative.

I have to tell you a story. God just put in my thoughts right now. I did not realize it was going to factor into todays devotion. So I used to work at our mall. I was a manager for MAcys. That was years ago. I still ahve nightmares about Christmas in the mall. I never go to the mall. I did yesterday. I was looking for pants actually need some new ones. I found the most perfect ring for my mom. She had to have her wedding band cut off eons ago and never got it replaced, so when my dad passed away she bought herself an avon ring and lost weight and is now too big. I found the perfect ring for her to replace it. That is not the story though. I thought the reason I went to the mall is that I needed to get her this ring. It was not
As I was coming out of a store I ran into one of the pastors from my church. I am very close to this pastor he is like family. We had done a widow's Christmas brunch together on Saturday. We were standing off to the side and he was telling me how one of the ladys at a table he was talking to was loading food in her purse. He then proceeded to tell me that he said to her " Glad you have such a big purse" I did not say anything to that comment. He told me as we were standing in the mall that he was going to send me a message on Facebook to thank me. He said by me saying nothing to him at all, especially not negative it not only convicted him but the Holy Spirit was able to speak to hiim about a number of things. Can you imagine a pastor telling you that you taught them something. I had to admit to him that it was not me that did that it was God. So by being slow to speak or in my case not at all he was blessed.
Think about this the next time you go to put your self down. Are the words you say to yourself damaging are they giving life or taking it away.
