From Band to By-pass

Jul 26, 2012

Well 6 days to go and I will finally have my long awaited surgery.  I'm in week three of an Optifast liquid diet and have gotten over the urge to rip my husbands lips off his face as he enjoys wonderful smelling dinners with the kids.  I didn't expect this to be that hard but then again, I remember the pre-op diet for the bandin 2007 being the hardest part of the process.  I still can't eat yogurt to this day!  My family has been through alot with me and this battle of mine.  At first the band was quite successful....$expensive$ but I did lose 80 lbs....then the complications started the weight started creeping back on and it went horribly wrong.  I had the band removed in the middle of the night in February 2011.  I remember the surgeon asking me if I wanted another one and I told him absolutely NOT!  Told him to get on the phone and call his colleagues that could do the RNY.  Eighty pounds and 5 years later here I am again in the pre-op stages for yet another WLS.  I have only told a certain few about this surgery.  Plenty of people to judge and watch and I'm just not interested in dealing with any of that.  I am staying focussed, getting ready and excited about regaining control again.  I feel disabled and don't recognize myself in the mirror...can't believe I'm this big again.  This past year and a half has been depressing to say the least but now I see the light again and know that I'm ready!
