I'm a Leaker :(

Aug 16, 2013

I had my VSG on Feb 26/13.  The first 2 weeks I sailed right through with no pain or regrets.  Over the next few weeks I started feeling worse and worse.  I went to my local hospital 3 times over the next 3 weeks.  1st time I was told I had a Kidney infection, 2nd time was pneumonia and 3rd time was a Kidney infection again.  I finally went to my family doctor and she called my surgeon.  The next day he called me and had me go to Rapid Assessment at the QEII in Halifax.  On April 5th I was diagnosed with a leak and abcess on my spleen.  I was admitted to hospital.

On April 10th I had surgery for a washout and JP drain placement.   I was was released from hospital on April 17th.  I was still vomitting and readmitted to hospital on April 21st.  On April 30th I had a feeding tube inserted.  On May 1st I had a J-Tube revision plus a small part of my small intestines were in the cavity of the abcess and had to be backed out.  I was released from hospital on May 21st.

The next few months I started to feel better and on July 28th my surgeon "pulled back" my JP Drain.  The following morning I had a lot of pain and a fever.  The next day I was still in alot of pain and had a fever so I went to my local hospital.  They transported me by ambulance to the QEII.  My JP drain was infected so they removed it and inserted a Penrose drain.  This hospital stay was 8 days.  I still have the leak and I am losing hope if it will ever get better.
