Yoga/Pilates and Me

Jun 22, 2010

As noted yesterday, I decided to try out some new exercises.  I walked so much on my NYC and DC vacation and wanted to keep up the momentum.  I have to say I don't know if it was hitting the start of week 7 post-surgery or the trip that made me realize I am no longer in recovery.  I feel incredibly strong and healthy right now even in comparison to how I was pre-surgery.  This is a big deal because I think I was starting to see myself constantly in recovery and almost like an invalid.  Maybe it had something to do with that initial dehydration and nausea because I was readmitted to the hospital for 5 days.

So, first I went swimming in my pool with my DH but it was really more treading water with only a few laps of the breast stroke this time. Then I get in my too small yoga pants and yoga top with built in bra.  Did I mention that I am a DD cup?  So, DH decided to join me at first and we got completely lost with the first lady she just went way too fast and it was supposed to be for beginners.  We tried a second one that was more pilates and it was just right.  She had three versions of every move with modifications so I did the easiest ones. She starts with a 10 minute warm up stretch and then moves on to a 45 minute session.  We finished the warm up and DH quit and I felt like that was probably enough for one day but decided to try for the first 15 minutes. It was actually very relaxing but getting down the right time to breath in and out was hard. Also, there are positions you are in when your head should hang down fully relaxed which makes it impossible to see to follow the next move.  I think I will have to repeat each segment several times to get down the appropriate moves.

My breast popped out of the yoga top while attempting one of the body contortions though!  Thankfully I was the only one present but decided to forgo a class until I could finish the whole 45 minute video with breasts fully contained...LOL! Swimming and yoga again tonight.

PS - 200.8 lbs this morning.  Just want to be in onderland even if it is in the middle of the day dressed in clothes at the doctor's office!
