1st Entry!

This is my first entry.  I am happy to share my weight loss journey with you to hopefully get advice to help make my journey a successful one.

My name is Sheila Pinkney, and I live in Calgary Canada.  I do not have a surgery date yet and I have not yet met with the doctor who will hopefully perform my surgery.  The type of surgery I hope to have is the LapBand as I feel it is the least invasive with the least amount of risks.

I do have a referral to see Dr. Lawrence Farries in Red  Deer Alberta.  I hope to have my first consultation with him sometime at the beginning of the year.  Between now and then, I want to lose an additional 40 pounds on my own.  I want to show to him and myself I am serious about wanting this to work. 

My big fear is, I get the surgery and I fail at the diet and life style change that goes along with it and do not lose the weight I want and need to lose.

As with any surgery and any new journey, this is a scary thing to undertake.  I have not told to many people as I do want to have their expectations weighing heavily on me.  I have told a select few who I know will be supportive and encourage me along the way. 

I look forward to hear from many of you and hearing your story and hopefully be an encouragment to you.
