week 84

Jan 17, 2013

Yesterday was 84 weeks out from surgery.  It has been 84 weeks and one day, 589 days, since surgery.  My weight as of this morning was 186.6.  I have returned to a mostly low carb diet, exercising, vitamins, and fluids.  I have popcorn on occasion, and can eat most of one bag by myself.  I love soup - Progresso beef n vegetable is my favorite, unless Im making it from scratch.  I loooove oxtail stew from scratch, and am going to make some of that over the weekend.  I dont often eat the potatoes in the prepackaged soups, partly because of doing low-carb, but also because they just dont add anything to it.  I love flavorful food, and I love the taste and texture of full fat products and meat.  low carb also helps me with cravings.  I am a recovering carb addict and have to stay aware or I will see huge fluctuations in my energy and attitude that are not cute at all.  I am incorporating different types of good carbs to go into maintenance and stay around this weight.

I started classes this week.  I am excited about my classes!  Initially I was scared and intimidated, but after walking into class the first day, I know I will be fine.  College is not like it once was - there are people from all walks of life and all stages of life, and that is promising.  Gone are the days where the classes are filled with late teen-early twenty somethings.  It is encouraging.  The classes are accelerated so I have to use my time wisely, because my goal is to do them and do them well.

NSVs - It is a sign of the freedom that VSG has given me that I walked into class and not one worry was about people judging me for my size.  It didnt even enter my thoughts until today.  I didnt worry about the seats, I didnt worry about snickers or jeers, and throughout the class I was able to focus on what the instructor was saying with no internal distraction.  My other NSV - I bought a pair of blue jeans about 3 weeks ago from the thrift store - Eddie Bauer, nice fit, non stretch - and they are loose!  I bought some 10s that are 10% stretchy material and they fit well.  Friends here have complimented me and inquired about my recent weight loss, and I thank them, but I don't see the big difference that 6 or so pounds makes. *shrugs* could be my old mentality, but its probably that the weight loss is less important at this point, and the texture and quality of living is more-most-important.
