Hello! I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know about October’s Gastric Bypass Support meeting in Pulaski. The meeting will be held at the NHC Community Center, 993 E. College Street, Pulaski, TN on Tuesday, October 26th starting at 6 p.m. If you arrive a little early (around 5:30), you’ll have an opportunity to meet and socialize with other attendees before the meeting begins. This month, we are very fortunate to have Dr. Hugh Houston from the Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity as our guest speaker. If you would like to review Dr. Houston’s profile, please click on the following link which details the doctor’s general information, clinical experience, education and training, list of some insurers previously accepted and testimonials from patients: http://obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeon+profile+Hugh+Houston+mgs.html If you are unable to follow the link, try going to the obesityhelp.com website and search for Dr. Hugh Houston, Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity. Please think about any topic you would like to cover at future meetings. If you have any ideas pertaining to guest speakers, or meeting goals let me know. Just to give you some ideas, I found some support group goals on the internet that I wanted to share with you: 1) To give support and information to those considering gastric bypass and to those who have had the surgery; 2) To help other people to accept us as a human being regardless of our body size; 3) To share ideas on how to make our lives more comfortable; 4) To exchange food tolerances and recipe ideas for use while on the gastric bypass diet; 5) To discuss exercise goals to help get rid of the excess; 6) To help each other cope with the new experience of only eating very small quantities of food; 7) To develop a new self image and life style; 8) To set up a clothing exchange; 9) To simply give each other emotional uplifting through fellowship; 10) To give love one to another at all times…. I hope you can attend this meeting. If you have any recipe ideas or clothes to exchange, please bring them to the meeting. Also, bring your support person and/or any friend(s) interested in learning more about gastric bypass surgery. If you would like to be removed from my Pulaski group mailing list, please reply to this message and include the word “delete” in the subject line. Thanks, Sue Rogers.
