Rhonda - List #2 Your doctor will give you a list of what to have, how much per hour, etc. Here is the list my doctor gave me for the first 2 weeks when I get home: Liquids, Liquids, Liquids (In addition to water, water, water.) 1. Clear juices: Diluted, 50 % juice, 50% water. If you can see through it, it is clear. Ex.: apple, grape, cranberry. 2. Broth: Vegetable or chicken 3. Diluted Sustacal or Enure (half strength) 4. Decarbonated (FLAT) Diet Soda 5. Diluted Resource Juice Drink 6. Citrasource (can be purchased at Costco pharmacy) you will get LOTS of suggestions from this board - I spend 2-3 hours a day (not at one time!) on the board reading everything I can and posting contratulations to members - it keeps me focused and educated and in a giving mode. I wish you a remarkably wonderful journey. ((hugs)) Sharon

Rhonda - Here is list #1 TAKE TO HOSPITAL LIST - this is a compilation of suggestions that I've seen on this site, and some of my own. 1. Chap Stick (your lips are going to be dry after surgery) 2. Toothbrush and Toothpaste 3. Anti-itch cream 4. Eye drops 5. Band aids 6. Earplugs so you can get some sleep 7. Phone numbers 8. Brush/Comb 9. Deodorant 10.Mouthwash, try those new Listerine patches that dissolve in your mouth. Those Listerine strips worked great! 11.Robe 12.Magazines, Crossword puzzles 13.Non-skid slippers (slip on are best) 14.Walkman to listen to music - relaxation CD's can be very helpful 15.For women who are of menstruating age...you should bring some pads or tampons. 16.Phone Card(s) 17.Pen and Paper (Journal it you have one) 19.Small Mirror 20.Box of Tissues (the hospital's tissues aren’t very soft) 21.Your own pillow might be more comfortable and a plus to have in the car for on the ride home. 22.Any medications you're currently taking that your doctor might still have you take. 23.If you wear contacts don't forget the case and solution for them you will have to take them out. 24.Also if you have glasses make sure you bring them. 25.If you purchased a Medical alert emblem you might want to bring that also, however I would recommend letting one of your family member hold onto it so it doesn’t get lost. 26.Cottonelle wet wipes (for easier cleaning and when you can't shower right away. 27.Tongs or a wooden spoon (to use with the wet wipes for those time you might not be able to reach) If you are very large like me try the Bottom Buddy – go to www.dynamic-living.com
