Kathy- Are you sure you aren't talking about me? It sounds like we have the SAME problem. Everyone keeps saying "it is just a tool" but what if the tool doesn't work? A couple posts up from yours there is a comment from fay--? On her profile is a post from someone who sounds the same as us. I guess her stoma is too big so the tool isn't working. I have tried to get my surgeons office to address my problem but they say I should talk to a dietician or a psychologist. Give me a break. I'm starting to feel really bad. Why do I have this 9 inch scar?

I SAID A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY~*~ I said a prayer for you today And know God must have heard- I felt the answer in my heart Although He spoke no word I didn't ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn't mind, I asked Him to send treasures Of a far more lasting kind, I asked that He'd be near you At the start of each new day, To grant you health and blessings And friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you In all things great and small, But it was for His loving care I prayed the most of all

Kathy, it's kind of a volume thing. You can eat 8 oz of cream of wheat because it's thin in consistency. My motto is "just because you can, doesn't mean you should", though. Measure our 2-3 oz and stick to that. If you stick to that you may well reach your goal in 6 months. Best of luck to you!

Kathy, congrats on your surgery! It is my understanding that, even if we eat JUNK, the pounds will still melt off during the first 6 months. (The bad news is that they won't *stay off* if we don't change our eating habits.) During the first few weeks ESPECIALLY, it doesn't hurt to eat tiny portions high in carbs in order to get your liquids in, or even the soft food diet that your doctor orders. I am 6 weeks out and have lost 35 lbs, and have yet to experience "ketosis," as far as I know. I'm trying to limit my carbs to 40-50g per day, get in all of my protein, and avoid those sugars. I eat around 600 calories per day. The scale keeps moving down, so I'm not too worried that I'm doing anything wrong. Good luck to you, Kathy! I'm sure you'll do awesome.

Congrats and welcome back to the board. I knew you could do this. Here's to all those pounds that are melting away even as you read this. Skinny wishes and Georgia Hugs, ~L~

ANGEL ON DUTY ^j^ Talked with Kathy's husband this evening, and she is doing just fine after surgery. Everything went well. Her husband and family were there for her. Thankyou for all the nice words and prayers you gave her. ~ Sandy
