Hi Donna,j I tried to email you, but it wouldn't work--said "Server Down", so I'm sending you my message this way. Barbara Henson's story is a horrific one, I agree. But you must realize she is one out of thousands who have had very successful DS surgeries. I read Barbara's story and believe the fault lay with her physician in allowing the problems to continue so long. You should realize there are also horror stories where the RNY is concerned. I read several recently where postops ended up having to have reversals because of all the problems they encountered. No matter which surgery you choose, there will be potential for complications. That's a risk we all take when we sign on the dotted line. Your best defense is to research and gain all the knowledge you can, then find a top notch surgeon working at a top notch hospital. My best wishes to you. Brenda Z. DS postop- 9/4/01 at goal and very happy and healthy

Hi Donna, I just read your profile and had to tell you I think you're a riot. You had me rolling with laughter! Just keep that wonderful sense of humor as you progress through your WLS journey and all will be well. I had my surgery 22 months ago and am so happy I did this. I wish you the very best in your WLS journey. God bless you. :-) Brenda

Donna, Hey girlie! I love to read all of your posts! Yes, the surgeries are very different, but keep in mind that the RNY isn't called the "Gold standard" for nothing!!! Dr. Moiel set up the Kaiser program to help you SUCCEED, not set you up to fail - and trust me - He really has done his homework! Keep up the research and you will be more comfortable with whatever choices you have. See you on the 26th!
