Sonya, I just wanted to let you know that we luv ya. You are part of THIS family. It is amazing how people on here just come out of the woodwork to help others....we all share a common bond: being overweight. It doesn't matter if someone is pre or post op. We ALL know what it feels like. I am so, so sorry that you are experiencing family rejection. People are afraid of change and some people will be jealous when you start seeing results..that's just life. If you are miserable at this weight, how will you ever be able to have a happy & productive life without losing it? Do this for your self, and everyone in your life will reap the benefits (even if they can't understand it right now). I am proud of you for taking this step toward a better life for you and your family! I live in St. Louis. If I could do anything for you, let me know. Terri [email protected]

Sonya, It is hard to have this surgery with no family support.. been there done that.. but I have to say, AFTER I made it through the surgery with no complications, my family really got better about it and are fine now. No more comments, or arguments. You will make it.. Just hold on to your own convictions, you are taking care of YOU.. for your family and yourself. This is a GOOD THING, not a bad thing. It shows how much you care. I pray you will have a safe complication free surgery, and a quick pain free recovery. Good luck! Tami

Hello Sonay - <b>Congratulations</b> on your upcoming surgery date. My prayers and best wishes are with you as you take the first steps down the path to a healthier and thinner you. I look forward to making that same journey soon and will be anxiously awaiting the "updates" to your profile as it progresses. Know that you are not alone and that there are MANY of us that will have you in our prayers on your very special day. Dont forget to walk, walk, WALK right after surgery, no matter how tired you are......AND drink that protein, lots and lots of it. Hugs and Aloha - Lei <i>"The key to happiness is dreams, the key to success is making those dreams come true"</i>

Hi Sonya~ You are doing what you think is best to protect your children by making sure their mom will be around a long time. That isn't selfish. That is anything BUT selfish. You are taking a brave step because you love your children. Your family is worried ~ and that comes out in many ways. Desperate people sometimes say mean things. Feel comforted knowing that so many have had WLS before you, and many will after you (me, for example) and we all do it for various reasons; love of ourselves -yes but most often love of family who we want to be with for years to come. ~Hugs~
