Congratulations on getting your surgery date! Even though it's scary sometimes just remember this is the best thing for you to do to help youself. And what a gift to give to your family and loved ones! You will be so amazed at how much better you feel and how much more life you have after surgery. There is a great poem called The Woman in the Mirror that I found on someones page here. I'll e-mail it to you. I have it on my bathroom mirror and the fridge at home for daily inspiration. Good Luck and will send lots of prayers your way too!

Kimberly, I read your letter and it really touched my heart! I too know what with the raising costs of medical Care has sky rocketed! But let me tell you about my doctor! Dr. Henry Pearce MD from Edmond Oklahoma! I went for my first visit with him on April 2nd, and he never asked any questions about payment! His office staff is wonderful, and said that Medicare pays 100% in these procedures! I was truly one happy girl when I left his office, for I can honestly say, this has been the very first time; I’ve been without coverage in all my adult life! I told everyone about my fight with the wheelchair at Mercy Health Center here in Oklahoma, and yes I was on workman’s comp! BUT what they DON’T tell you, once you’re in the system; I will never be able to work as a nurse in the state of Oklahoma again! *S* That’s ok, once I get this weight off, and my knees fixed, there are other places that need good nurses as well! *S* Now back to the subject of Medicare. Dr. Pearce and his office told me that Medicare has not turned down one person! Being around dr’s and nurses all my life, I have had really good luck in choosing the right ones for my family and for myself! You might think about coming to Oklahoma to have the surgery done, few days in the hospital, then u have to see him 10 days later after discharge! He could probably point you to a good dr in your area for all follow up visits! His telephone # 405-340-051! I had the best care, and not a whole lot of pain, except when I had to move! *S* Like I said, he did the surgery on the 5th of May, and I went home on the 7th! *S* Yesterday I thought, OH MY GOSH what have I gone and done to myself!! But this morning being 4th day post-op, I felt really good! *S* I’m able to walk better and trying to practice standing up straight so NOT be like the hunch back of Notre Dame! I won’t tell you there is no pain, but most of the pain in soreness, tenderness, and it only seems to be when I move! *S* But I force myself because I want to get well, I want my life back which was stolen from me! Even though I’m 52 yrs old, my life is NOT over! Heck I just finished the dirty deed of raising my family! *S* Now I want to have fun! *S* But I’ve learned life is not always fair, and to be happy, depends on how much you put happiness into it! *S* “Life is hard, build a bridge and get over it!” ß-my motto! *S* Peggy
