Question:
11 weeks post-op today, last few days sooo hungry...

Hi ~ I am eleven weeks today, down 57 pounds. All of a sudden, the last three days or so I have been so hungry, day and night. There's a little card s hop in my building and I just ran next door to buy peanuts b/c I was so hungry!. I only ate about a tablespoon or two, but still. I haven't changed anything at all, no more of anything, no less. Keeping up the water (about 100+ oz/day), protein, exercise (4-5 miles/day). I figure I am getting in about 800-950 calories/day. In anycase, I haven't felt hungry like this in many weeks...I thought it had passed. Is it a transient thing? If someone can tell me that this hunger is something that just comes and goes every couple of weeks for a few days at a time, then I can deal. Other than that, any idea why? Is there something I am doing?    — PaulaM (posted on May 2, 2002)

I am 8 weeks post-op, and some days get very hungary, which is normal. I eat, get full really fast and am fine. I think the key is to have the proper choice of foods available for when you need them. Peanuts, in small quantities are probably one of the better choices. WLS isn't going to make you so you never get hungry, it just makes it so you get full on a small amount. I have also found that eating high protien snacks seems to help out greatly. Some of the low-carb high protien bars (like carb-solutions, etc.) are a great snack to get me through times when I am hungry. Good Luck and sounds like you are doing great.

I've contributed it to my hormones and period cycles. I know I'm not hungry because when I really think about something and I get it I only eat about 3 bites of it. I'm 43 years old, perhaps I blame my hormones on everything,ha,ha!
