Question:
5'8

Hey-I'm 5'8 and weigh 282lbs. I would like to know about how much weight any of you out there with similar stats have lost in 3-4 months. I don't want to pigeonhole myself to any specific loss, but am interested to know how you all have done. My hubby comes home from Iraq around then and I'd like to have a guesstimate of how much I'll weigh. I don't know if it makes a difference, but I'm 21. I tried to find this in the library and ended getting one "matching" post back-and it was about MUCUS! (shrug) So I'm posting this and sorry to any of you who have already answered similar questions. Could you please answer again? Thanks sooooooo much!    — jenn_jenn (posted on July 24, 2003)

Hi there! First of all I had a lap rny on Dec 13, so around 7 1/2 months ago and I've lost a bit over 100 lbs. Our stats were similar I'm 5'8 but weighed 268 and was in size 24's. By March and April I was down to 16's and looked pretty good. The problem is that everyone's weight loss is different especially concerning body shapes, and I personally drove myself nuts wondering what I'd look like in different intervals comparing myself to others. Please don't get discouraged if you think your loss is slow, because your body will shed the pounds as IT sees fit and could care less what you think LOL and just remember to keep up with your vitamins, protein and water:) Elizabeth lap rny Dr.Foote 12-13-02 268/162

Hi - I'm 5'5 and weighed 262 when I started on 2/3/03 - oh and I'm 33. I'm now 6 months out and weigh 189 - so that's a big 73lbs loss. I kept track and at the end of 4 months I lost 56 pounds. Not bad. I think you'll be a big surprise to your husband. My husband is in Iraq too and he'll be home ??? I'm hoping to be near goal when he returns - won't he be surprised! Take care.

Hey...I am 5' 8.5" and weighed 282lbs when I had my surgery January 8th of this year. I just weighed myself and I am down to 179lbs...so a loss of 103lbs in 6.5 months. Not too shabby. If you ever want to chat, email me at [email protected] and I can give you more info. Good Luck!

I started at 283 at 5'8". RNY-LAP 4/2 I weighed in with the Dr today at 226lbs. I put on a pair of 16W slacks today, which are about the same size as an 18 regular (not women's size). My weight has stayed with the weight planner guide on AMOS using the 75%-80% weight loss percentages.

HI Jennifer: I am close, but not exact: 5'7 and had surgery at 280 lbs. I am 2 weeks short of 4 months out (4/8/03) and have lost 78 pounds so far. I had OPEN RNY MEDIAL - I decided against the DISTAL because I wanted less risk of malabsorption. I am losing weight like a distal, however. I mostly feel pretty good, too. However, I am 32 and have had a baby. As you can see by everyone's answers, we all lose differently, regardless of our situations, builds, weight, and age. Good luck!
