Question:
What is the revovery period for having Breast Implants and generally what is the cost
I am considering having breast implants. I am very embarrased by their appearance after weight loss. I started at a 42D and have only gone down to a 36C but they just hang. And God forbid, should I try and lean over!!! I took off work for 3 wks with my open RNY and really don't want to ask for another couple of weeks off. How soon can I return to work after this type of surgery and generally how much did it cost paying out of pocket? THANKS — THE NEW M. (posted on September 12, 2003)

Hi ~ I'm there with ya! My friend had implants done on a Friday, was back
to work on Monday. Sore, but more than able to perform her duties (desk
job). The procedure was done out-patient and she had no problems at all.
I am so ready to have mine done - I too am very self conscience of their
appearance after the weight loss. Hopefully I'll be able to have the
procedure in December or January. Let me know what you find out! Open RNY

I know 3 people who have had breast implants (but all 3 did not have
WLS)... and the cost for all of them was around $4,000. I lived with 2 of
them when they had theirs done and they only needed about 4 or 5 days to
feel like their oldselves.. now the 3rd one, it seemed that she was back to
normal the day after surgery.. I think she is just really tough!

My niece had hers done some years back for around $5,000, I believe, but
I'm not sure if that including hospital charges, too. One thing I might
mention - your surgeon may suggest a breast LIFT rather than, or in
addition to implants, which would mean more expense. There are some good
internet sites under breast augmentation. Good luck!

Can't answer as to recovery time but just had a consultation yesterday with
a PS. $7300 for breast lift (mastoplexy) and augmentation with saline
implant. If I want silicone, it is an additional $1,000. The $7300
covered all costs for surgeon's fees, anesthesiologist and surgicenter.

I had a lift with implants, which is what you will need if you have alot of
sag following weight loss. Mine was covered by insurance (UHC has a formula
for the amount of ptosis - that's droop - required for them to pay for a
lift. I more than qualified. I paid for the implants, which were $800.
Pretty good deal. I had it done outpatient on a Thursday and went to work
on Monday. I was sore but it wasn't too bad. Good luck! hugs,

I have a sister-in-law who had it done last year and she paid just a little
over 4,000.00 for the whole procedure and she was out of work for 2 weeks.
I'm getting the lower body lift and TT, but im saving for that too. Good
