Question:
Tummy Tuck Question.
I went for a consult for a Tummy Tuck and a Breast reduction. He said that I Needed both and that we would do them separately, 3 months apart. He said that on the Tummy Tuck he thinks he will take off about 8-10 pounds. GET THIS THOUGH.... I have to do it twice! Apparently there is too much for him to take off in one sitting. so when I go back for the breast reduction he is going to take the rest off, ( I have to pay for that out of pocket) He says that I have a double roll, I call it a snowman minus the head. SO I have to do it twice. I asked him if there is anything I can do? He said no it was just my shape. Has anyone heard of this? He told me it should be no problem getting an approval. I should hear in 2 weeks. I mean yes it is bad but I don't think that mine is so much worse than everyone else's that I have to have it done twice. UGH this is so frustrating. I'm scared enough to do it once, only to be told you need it twice. GREAT :( What should I do? I am 5'6" and weigh 158. I wear a size 8 or 10. I admit that I am little in my arms and legs and carry my weight in my breasts and Tummy. I still don't fit into a DD bra. The Dr U saw has done almost all of the people from my support group and they didnt have to do it twice, most of them hadn't lost as much weight as I had and were still over 200. Nicole, I'd get a 2nd opinion. I had alot of fat rolls (like a snowman) and
I didn't have to do it twice. I also had muscles tightened which is
STANDARD practice. Why isn't he on you?! That is very odd. I'm also
5'6" tall and I was 170lbs before PS and he took off 7lbs. I also had
the breast AND arms done at the same time as the extended TT. It took 9.5

Hi Nicole. It seems rather ridiculous to me that you would have to go in
twice. I was 269 lbs. prior to WLS and am now 160 lbs. I'm 5'5" and
I'm scheduled for my TT January 6th. My surgeon told me that since I
carried most of my weight in my abdomen that there would be a lot to be
removed but that I could either have the one incision around the pubic area
or have the anchor incision. It was up to me. I would definitely get a
second opinion. If you're up to traveling for this surgery, my surgeon,
Dr. Mark Migliori in Edina, MN is rated one of the best. You could call
his office if you'd like at (952) 925-1111. Hey, I had a thought, you want
to get a breast reduction and I want to get a breast enlargement----maybe
we could arrange a transfer :) (LOL!!!). I wish you the best of luck.

Hi Nicole: I can see him not wanting to take off too much at once if he
has to go back and do the breasts later anyway, but I really don't
understand him not doing any muscle work. Is it a panniculectomy or a
adominoplasty? I thought the difference between them was primarily the
muscle tightening. I wouldn't pay for, or let my insurance pay for, an
adominoplasty if it didn't include muscle tightening, because that's a more
expensive procedure because of the tightening. I agree with the other
people who answered, you need a second opinion. It could be that he's
trying to save you the scar from the anchor cut because he thinks the two
part sections through the breast work will work out the same? I think you
need to get clarification from him if you are still considering going to
him. Something just isn't adding up right, but it may well be because we
don't have all the information. I'm waiting on preapproval so we may end
up having surgery around the same time. Write me directly if you'd like.

Run as fast as you can towards the exit. You shouldn't have any
reservations about the surgeon and be totally clear on your procedure. I've
seen enough procedures done on TV, read enough literature and seen enough
people talking on this website, to know that you shouldn't have to have to
two surgeries.
Second opinion should be the first thing you do.

That seems kind of strange, expecially if he's only removing about 10
pounds of skin. I lost 125 pounds and had 5 pounds of skin removed and
they did a hip to hip incision and tightened my abdominal muscles. I would
get at least 2 more opinions from other plastic surgeons. Just because
there recommended by the WLS surgeon and the support group dfoesn't mean
there the best. The one recommended by mine definately is not and I'm glad
I didn't use him.

That's why they do the anchor incision, to fix the snowman look. Find
another surgeon experianced in reconstruction after massive weight loss.
You may find one that will do your lift at the same time (I did).

Original poster here. HE IS DOING THE ANCHOR CUT. The breast reduction
would be covered but he told me for the second part of the Tummy Tuck that
I would have to pay for that.

Nicole, it sounds like he wants to make some extra money off of you. RUN to
another Dr!!!
