Question:
LBL in 3 days

Hi, I'm have and LBL with no muscle repair done (none needed... all loose skin) in a few days. I would like to know when I can expect to where my regular clothes again. From what I understand I'll be swollen and need to where loose clothing for a while. Also, since I don't need mucle repair how long should I expect it to take to be back to "normal". thanks!    — SJP (posted on July 4, 2005)

Even with aa muscle repair I felt well enought to return to work as an RN in a hospital by 4 weeks. but Dr wouldn't let me because of the lifting and muscle repair. I wore loose pj bottoms the first 2 weeks as I had 2 drains that wouldn't fit into my regular clothes. As far as fitting into my old clothes, never have fit into them & don't intend to either. I was a 12 going in and when the drains came out I was an 8. ;-) I had minimal swelling, nothing like when I had lipo this spring and took 2 months to fit comfortably into my pants. alll in all the LBL was a piece of cake compared to my thigh lift.

I had a similar experience as the previous poster. I probably could have gone back to work at 4 weeks but thankfully, I had enough leave time that I stayed out for 6. I'm really glad I did. However, I did have thigh lift and breast lift done at the same time as LBL so that has much to do with recovery, I'm sure. I entered plastics in a size 10. Wore the size 10's very loosely until about week 5 after the LBL then I went shopping and purchased size 6. The waist was tight in them due to swelling but nothing else was tight. I've remained in a size 6 and it's a year later. The swelling went down after about 2 months. I love the results. The pain was a bugger, though, I'm telling ya. Have the pain meds handy! :) Best of luck to you. It's well worth any discomfort you have. Paula
